Topic 1 - the EYFS made simple
This topic introduces the EYFS, outlines the four fundamental guiding principles, and looks in detail at the 7 learning and development requirements of the EYFS. It also covers the role of key workers and the 3 important ingredients of teaching and learning experiences.
Topic 2 - measuring and assessing progress
This topic introduces early learning goals, and looks in detail at the things children should be able to do by the time they are 5 years old, before covering the role of ongoing assessment in the EYFS.
Topic 3 - safeguarding and welfare
In this topic the safeguarding and welfare requirements of the EYFS are looked at, including policies and procedures, safeguarding, health and safety, and all other guidance provided within the EYFS.

Course description
Overview of contents
This e-learning course is suitable for anyone working as a childminder with children under the age of 5 in their work or voluntary activities. It includes a detailed overview of the EYFS for childminders, in particular, the learning and development and safeguarding and welfare requirements, and the role of assessments.
Law and legislation
This course provides a detailed overview of the statutory framework for the early years foundation stage for childminders – first defined in Section 39 of the government’s Childcare Act 2006, which requires all UK childcare providers to comply with the welfare requirements of the EYFS, and, for those in England, the learning and development requirements too.
This course is available as part of the flick subscription or to license for hosting on your own learning management system. A certificate will be available to download on successful completion (75% pass rate) of this course.
