Topic 6: awareness and reporting

Covering the need for everyone to be aware of adult safeguarding and what to do in the event of a concern.

Topic 7: disclosures

How to react to disclosures of abuse, including challenging other agencies where necessary.

Overview of contents


This e-learning course is suitable for safeguarding leads within any kind of setting, organisation or sector that works with adults who might be at risk of harm. It is specifically designed to help safeguarding leads consider what happens in their sector and what they need to put in place. It includes a look at the relevant law and legislation, recaps what makes an adult at risk of abuse and neglect, and the different categories of abuse. This course assumes that the learner has already completed level 2 adult safeguarding training, and concentrates on key principles and standards, mental capacity, safeguarding thresholds, awareness and reporting, and disclosures.
